GETTING STARTED WITH LRZIP: WINDOWS EDITION
1. Download Cygwin (preferably the 64 bit version as the 32 bit version apparently has some bottlenecks or something in the lrzip binary it downloads)
2. Download (AND INSTALL) cygwin. When you get to the menu for choosing addons and what have you, search for lrzip, and click the skip icon
(which should change it into something else). Download any/all dependencies if prompted.
3. Go to the folder which contains your newly installed cygwin bin folder.
4. Create a new folder anywhere you like. This will hold lrzip.
5. From the bin folder, copy the following into the new folder:
5a. cygbz2-1.dll
5b. cyggcc_s-seh-1.dll
5c. cyglzo2-2.dll
5d. cygstdc++-6.dll
5e. cygwin1.dll
5f. cygz.dll
5g. lrzip.exe
(yeah, I know....)
You're done! Just call lrzip.exe in a batch with included flags and such and you're ready to start archiving!
In order to use the program, you'll have to tar up your directories first (unless you plan on only using this for singular files, in which case you're fine).
This can be achieved simply with 7z.exe or other similar program which allows multiple extensions as output files.
